Nothing would be the same...

I recently ran across this image which asserts that every conversation a person has, or even the physical space they occupy at any moment, has an affect other peoples decision making process and the way those people then go on to live their life.

I believe the image is supposed to make you feel that you are making worthwhile contributions to the world, and the common refrain of, "Nothing would change if I didn't exist", is a fallacy.

However, when I read this, all I see is the cold truth of the butterfly effect, not anything that makes me believe that a person's interactions are by default worthwhile. It is true that if I did not exist, the people that I have spoken too would not have had those conversations. The places where I sat for lunch would not have been occupied as others tried to find a place to eat. Are these interactions inherently worthwhile? Am I supposed to be so arrogant to believe that every word I say is something to hold on to, and shape the lives of others?

In actuality I believe that nothing would be the same in the way people got here, but nothing would change.
